The book even showed example photos of a doe that had survived a single lung shot only to be killed after she had healed. This is due to such an extreme angle on the shot. One thing that appears to be common is that when an archer is shooting from a really high stand and takes a broadside lung shot at a deer, he misses the near lung and only punctures the second lung. it was higher because he screened his calls and only went on ones that sounded highly likely that the deer was fatally hit.
